COVID-19 and Substance Use Disorder

The COVID-19 virus could hit some people suffering from substance use disorder particularly hard, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Since the virus attacks the lungs, it may be particularly harmful to people who suffer from pulmonary or respiratory health issues due to opioid use. In addition, people suffering from substance use disorder are more likely to be homeless or incarcerated. Visit the NIDA website to learn more.
