Naloxone Saves Lives

In 2019, Berks County suffered 127 overdose deaths, the vast majority of which were from opioids.

Anyone who is taking an opioid, whether as a prescription pain reliever or recreationally, is at risk of an overdose. But, thanks to the drug naloxone, an opioid overdose can be reversed, ultimately preventing tragedy. Naloxone works by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain, restoring breathing within two to eight minutes.
