Online Leadership Trainings for People in Recovery

The SOS Berks Opioid Coalition, in partnership with the Council on Chemical Abuse, has scheduled several online training classes in August and September as part of a leadership series for people in recovery and their allies. These interactive ZOOM-based classes are intended to train individuals in recovery to become leaders, mentors and a force for change. They will be conducted by the Pennsylvania Recovery Organizations Alliance (PRO•A).


All trainings are FREE but registration is required. Classes are three hours each, limited to 30 participants. Three PCB credits are offered. 


Upcoming trainings:


Leadership Skills for Peer Leaders “Effective Leadership, Advocacy, and Mentoring – Why It is Important for Our Future” This three-hour training is designed to engage persons in recovery in becoming active leaders and mentors for the recovery movement. The virtual training will include opportunities for participant interaction.

This training is being offered twice with registration limited to 30 participants each date.

Sharing Our Stories: Communicating for Change “Learning to Use Our Recovery Stories as a Force to Overcome Stigma” This three-hour training provides persons in recovery with the following:

  • An understanding of the importance of using personal stories of recovery as a force for change

  • How to develop messaging to overcome stereotypes and stigma

  • How to become a strength-based, recovery-focused voice of hope within our families, our communities, and with policymakers and the media

This training is being offered twice with registration limited to 30 participants each date.
